Recognizing Our Spirituality Part 3

This powerful message confronts us with one of the most uncomfortable truths in Scripture: we can know about God and still be spiritually dead. Through the encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus in John chapter 3, we discover that religious knowledge, good deeds, and even miraculous experiences don't guarantee salvation. Nicodemus was a respected religious leader who acknowledged God's presence with Jesus, yet Jesus immediately told him he must be born again. This reveals a critical distinction between believing in Jesus and truly being transformed by Him. The message challenges our modern tendency toward easy believism, where we rush people through a prayer without addressing the true condition of their hearts. We learn that genuine biblical conversion requires understanding our desperate state as sinners—cut off from God, enslaved to sin, and spiritually dead. It's not enough to walk an aisle or repeat words; supernatural regeneration must occur. True salvation involves repentance, a complete turning from sin, and making Jesus not just Savior but Lord of our lives. This means daily dying to ourselves and allowing Him to transform us from the inside out. The call here is sobering but essential: examine whether we have experienced true biblical conversion or merely religious activity.
